WHAT IS THE PHILIPPINES CLEAN ELECTIONS 2010?

Philippines Clean Elections 2010 is a project sponsored by the VMA Foundation in partnership with Digital Democracy to monitor the May 2010 national election in the Philippines. It uses the USHAHIDI platform, a crowd-sourcing crisis information system that was developed as a tool for Kenyans to report and map incidents of violence via SMS, email, or the web. It has been used to monitor elections in Afghanistan, India, Lebanon, and Mexico. It was deployed in the Democratic Republic of Congo to track unrest, in Zambia to monitor medicine stockouts, and in the Philippines to track the strengths and weaknesses of mobile phone networks and to report election irregularities.

Anyone with access to an email-enabled cell phone or the internet can report election anomalies to the Foundation through the Philippines Clean Elections 2010 website. Pictures and videos can also be attached to the report as well as link to the news item where the report was taken.

The Foundation evaluates and analyzes submitted data and shares its report with the authorities, with the media, and with individuals and institutions.

WHO ARE THE PHILIPPINES CLEAN ELECTIONS 2010 MEMBERS?

The Philippines Clean Elections 2010 is composed of Boston-based Filipino-Americans and other Filipinos living and working around the world who are concerned with the future of the Philippines. They are committed to helping the country in any way they can.
